Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition
The 12th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) wrapped up today, following a successful five-day run at Katara Cultural Village. This year's edition saw participation from over 29 countries and the exhibition served as a premier global platform for showcasing state-of-the-art agricultural innovations, research and products, advancing the sector's development.
The exhibition witnessed a large turnout from the public, with about 97000 visitors, in addition to the participation of 356 entities and exhibitors, 114 local farms, 1069 male and female students from schools, in addition to 22 embassies, 50 speakers, and 46 diverse discussion panels.
During the closing ceremony, HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya honored members of the organizing committee and sponsors in appreciation of their contribution to the success of the exhibition, in the presence of a number of representatives of participating companies and entities.
The list of official sponsors included: Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) as official sponsor, Mazzraty, Heenat Salma Farm, and Baladna as gold sponsors, Hassad Food as food security sponsor, Agrico Qatar as bronze sponsor, and Al Rayyan Water as official water sponsor.
The exhibition concluded with the organization of the 'Biotechnology Forum', which discussed the role of agricultural genomics in modern agriculture, preserving plant biodiversity, and using advanced technologies to improve agricultural production and combat pests.
The success of the 12th edition of the AgriteQ reflects Qatar's commitment to enhancing food security and sustainable development and supporting innovations in the agricultural sector. The exhibition is an opportunity to enhance local production using modern agricultural technologies, with a focus on rationalizing consumption habits to achieve better health and sustainability of the agricultural sector, in support of national efforts to confront the challenges of climate change and provide an ideal platform for exchanging knowledge and sharing experiences among leading specialists in the agricultural field.
