5 Examples of Electronic Devices That You Can Control with Your Thoughts

Since our childhood, we have always wanted a technology which could understand our mind and then do things as per our wish. Technology has been looking for ways to fulfill our wish and because of the hard work that scientists have been putting in, our wishes are about to come true.

Devices have been made to analyze the receptors sent by the brain and then perform the task as per the will of that person. This challenging technology occurs through Brain Computer Interface (BCI)  by using EEG receptors. The receptors analyze the signal and give command. Let us have a look at some electronic devices that you can control with your thought.

1. Emotiv EPOC

Emotiv EPOC is undoubtedly one of the most advanced electronic devices in the field of brain control devices so far. However, the specialty of the device lies in the fact that it does not only act as a brain control interface but also serves the function of controlling electronic devices like wheel chairs. You can wear this headphone shaped receptor to control characters while playing games in your computer, thus showing the kind of advancement that you have been looking for. Controlling the character with brain ensures there are no mistakes die to pressing of wrong key and improper functioning of some part. (http://humanparagon.com/brain-computer-interfaces/)

The receptor consists of 16 points of contact, which need to be fitted efficiently on the head for proper functioning. One of the special features of the EmotivEPOC is that it works better if it is kept in saline water before use. Priced at $ 299 USD, it is definitely the landslide device that the brain computer interface industry was looking for since a long time.

2. Darpa’s Prosthetic Arm

This is one of the biggest advances in the field of human healthcare. The prosthetic arm has been developed by the mad agency of Pentagon with such capabilities that it can be controlled by the brain. The receptor arm worn by man can be controlled by his wishes, thus challenging the already available ones.

3. InteraXon Muse

The InteraXon Muse is another one of those headband devices, but this one has only four receptors and can be used to control smartphones. The four receptors study the signals of the brain using the EEG and show it on the screen of the smartphone.

Though the InteeaXon Muse is in its preliminary stage and cannot control all the actions, the $ 199 USD band has been made keeping the smartphone industry in mind. We know that smartphone is where the future lies and the company has been rightly targeting the smartphone users.

4. Orbit Helicopter

Flying the helicopter is definitely a difficult task and many people want to fly them. However, once they understand the hardships faced in flying one, people wish there could be some technology using which the helicopter could fly as per our wish and go wherever we want. Although this has not been made possible in the case of big helicopters, it has been made possible for a very small prototype termed as Orbit Helicopter. Peculiar in view and not anywhere close to helicopter in terms of resemblance, it consists of circular orbit kind of stuff over a ball shaped nucleus. Neuro sky Mindwave headset has to be worn in order to control the helicopter.

The helicopter basically analyzes the waves produced by the brain and thus understanding the order acts as per the will of the brain. The helicopter is priced at $ 199 USD, which can be considered as low cost but there is not much use of this helicopter in real life yet. However, it is still one of the most notable inventions in the field of brain computer interface devices controlled by brain wave.

5. Star Wars Science Force Trainer

Star Wars Science Force Trainer is basically a toy which uses the BCI technology. Consisting of a headphone and a ping pong ball in the tube, the receptor collects the message of the brain and control the ball as per will.

Though Brain Control Interface (BCI) devices are still in the infant stages of their development, the making of the above gadgets and electronic devices have ensured our wish will be fulfilled someday. It has also ensured that this field is not only imaginative but result oriented and making these devices is really possible. So, bask in the excitement and wait till the technology becomes mature.
