Al Shomos Wins Marmi Cup
The veteran 10YO mare Al Shomos, owned by Saeed bin Mubarak Saeed Aljafali Al Naimi, demonstrated her class and experience in the 1200m Local Thoroughbred Open Race, coming from behind in the straight to win the Marmi Cup. The event was organized by Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club at Al Uqda Racecourse - Turf on Saturday.
The following were the winners of races of the Marmi Cup Day Race Meeting. Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate Race (4-6YOs, 1400m) was one by Alam Al Zaeem, owned by Al Zaeem Stud. Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate Race (4-6YOs, 1400m) was clinched by Al Khebrah, owned by Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, whereas Thoroughbred Handicap Race (3YOs, 1400m) was claimed by Ripple Effect, owned by Mohammed bin Fahad A H Al Attiya, while Thoroughbred Handicap Race (3YO+, 1200m) was secured by Gold Lily, owned by Sheikh Faisal bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani. Purebred Arabian Handicap Race (4YO+, 2100m) was won by Khalil Du Croate, owned by Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, whereas Thoroughbred Handicap (4YO+, 2100m) was won by Austral, owned by Al Shaqab Racing.
