Authorities expose fake platforms selling AFC Asian Cup tickets

AFC Asian Cup 2023

The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has identified fraudulent websites posing as a ticket-selling platform for the AFC Asian Cup. In a social media statement, the agency cautioned the public against purchasing event tickets from these deceptive sites, which mimic the official ticket-selling platform of the Qatar Football Association.

The NCSA highlighted the exploitation of public enthusiasm for the tournament by these unreliable websites for fraudulent activities.

The agency exposed multiple such websites and a social media account to raise awareness. It advised potential attendees to buy tickets exclusively from the official platform or authorized resale websites to avoid falling prey to phishing and fraud, which could compromise personal and financial information.

The NCSA also recommended fans interested in reselling tickets to use the tournament's official website. Fans can log in and access their tickets in the 'My Orders' section to release tickets for resale. Once a ticket is resold, the transaction is final and irreversible. Tickets obtained or resold through unauthorized channels are invalid and may be canceled without prior notice.

With almost a million tickets already sold, the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 is set to commence on January 12, featuring an exciting opening ceremony and a match between the host country, Qatar, and Lebanon. The Local Organizing Committee aims to build on the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, bringing football back to the nation.
