Awards presented to 8 schools in Qatar at a ceremony held on Saturday, 26 March with Dr. R Seetharaman, Group CEO of Doha Bank, officials and students.
Reinforcing its commitment to evolving environmental awareness, Doha Bank, one of the largest private commercial banks in Qatar, announces the 08th edition of its ECO-Schools Program Awards held on Saturday, 26 March. The awarding ceremony recognized students and schools in Qatar that completed the ECO-Schools project on their schoolâs ground and play an active role in learning environmental issues and implementing sustainable practices.
The ECO-Schools program is designed to empower and inspire young children to make positive environmental changes to their schools. The ECO-Schools Program Awards were presented to 8 schools in a ceremony at Doha Bankâs headquarters. The awards acknowledged the creativity and innovation of students in successfully completing their green projects as part of the ECO-Schools Program.
For the âEnvironmental Healthâ category, the awards were presented to 4 schools,
Birla Public School for âSowers and Growers (Kitchen Garden)â project, Pakistan International School Qatar for the âBreathe Your Own Oxygenâ project, Philippine School Doha â Junior High School for the âVertical Gardenâ project and Philippine School Doha â Senior High School for âGreen Revolution: A Move to Environmental Sustainability project.
The following 2 schools were recognized under the âWater Managementâ category, Al-Ahnaf Bin Qais Independent School for the âStop, Save a dropâ project and Rajagiri Public School for the âPot Drainer Systemâ project.
Similarly, under the âEnergy Savingâ category, the awards were received by DPS-Modern Indian School for the âConserve energy, achieve synergyâ project and Philippine International School Qatar â Intermediate for the âBicycle Eco-electric generatorâ project.
During the awards ceremony, students from Rajagiri Public School performed on âDreams on Fireâ and Philippine International School Qatar, performed on âEnvironmental songâ. In addition, a Green Quiz was conducted for students to raise awareness on environmental conservation and protection issues.

Doha Bankâs ECO-Schools program provides significant opportunities for children to become environmental advocates, Schools anywhere in Qatar can join the program free-of-charge â http://www.ecoschools.com.qa. The ECO-Schools Core Process is very simple. Schools are requested to create a framework for student activities and to make a commitment to the ECO-Schools Committee. Once approved, the schools implement the action plan. The Committee later monitors the progress made and awards ECO-Stars to successful schools and projects.
