As the next phase of Qatar Foundation’s sustainable transport network prepares to open, visitors to Education City are being urged to follow safety guidelines at the campus.

The Education City Tram’s second line will come into operation shortly, following the launch of the network in 2019, connecting passengers with schools, universities, and other facilities around the site’s southern campus.

The tram system – which uses pioneering battery-charging technology—is designed to make Qatar Foundation (QF) a greener and more accessible environment, encouraging people to leave their cars at one of Education City’s car parks and travel by tram to their destination.

With the network now expanding, drivers at Education City are asked to follow signposted speed limits, road traffic signals, and any instructions and guidance provided by QF security personnel. Motorists should approach junctions, where trams have priority, with caution and allow them to fully cross before proceeding; and should not obstruct tramlines, such as by parking for short periods or dropping off passengers at junctions or on tramways. Drivers should use designated parking areas only.

Those walking through Education City are asked to use designated pedestrian crossings and ensure they check that no tram is approaching before crossing tramways. Cyclists and scooter riders are not permitted to use tramways, and long objects such as ladders and pokes are not allowed at tram stops due to high-power overhead electrical lines.

With the safety and wellbeing of its community and the general public being a top priority, QF will notify the relevant authorities of breaches of these safety guidelines.
