Education Minister says Education top priority for Qatar
Education is a top focus for the political leadership, and it is a crucial pillar in Qatar Vision 2030, since it is an investment in the future to build people, according to HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education.
Speaking  during an interview on Qatar TV's "Al Khulasa" programme on Saturday, HE the minister said, "Our strategy revolves around four axes: governance, digital culture, interactive and renewable digital content, and infrastructure that aims to reach all parties in the educational process."Â
She claims that 99.2% of instructors and 92.8% of students use the "Qatar Education" platform, while only 9% of parents do.
"The enrolment rate in early education in Qatar has reached 45%, which is average, and the ministry aims to increase it. Since its inception in 2011, the "Tomooh" programme has recruited 1200 male and female high school graduates into the teaching profession," the minister noted.Â
In answer to a query concerning decreasing working hours for teachers, she stated that the school environment differs from the university environment in that the professor must be there in order to maintain the students, and that many teachers' requests have been analyzed and addressed over the years.
"Training and development is important for teachers and is one of the goals of technological learning, and we are not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that our teachers are well trained," she said.
The minister stated that academic advising will be made available to all middle schools beginning with the current academic year. Qatar has 7530 school hours, which is close to the average of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which is 7590.
