Tragic Bus Accident in Kenya Claims Lives of Qatar-Based Indian Tourists

A devastating road accident in central Kenya has claimed the lives of six tourists, including five Indian nationals residing in Qatar. The bus, which was transporting a group of tourists—28 of them confirmed to be Indian nationals based in Qatar—veered off the road and crashed into a ditch.

According to reports by Chinese news agency Xinhua, the incident occurred as the tourists were traveling from Nakuru County to the popular Nyahururu Thomson Falls in Laikipia County. The bus lost control in the Gichaka area, approximately 41 kilometers south of Nyahururu Town, amid rainy weather conditions. Witnesses at the scene stated the vehicle skidded, hit a tree, and rolled over multiple times before coming to a halt in a ditch.

Local residents quickly responded, rushing to assist and help extract survivors from the wreckage.

The Indian Embassy in Doha has confirmed the loss of five Qatar-based Indian nationals in the tragedy. In a statement, the embassy expressed its condolences and assured that it is coordinating with Indian community organizations in Doha, including ICC and ICBF. Additionally, officials from the High Commission of India in Nairobi are on-site and actively providing assistance to the victims and their families.

The incident highlights the dangers of road travel in adverse weather conditions and marks a somber moment for the Indian community in Qatar and abroad.
