Foreign Minister Meets UN World Food Programme Executive Director

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with HE Executive Director for the UN World Food Programme David Beasley, who is currently visiting the country.
The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral relations and the partnership between the State of Qatar and the UN World Food Programme, as well as the latest developments in Afghanistan and how it reflects on the country's food security.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed during the meeting on the importance of protecting civilians, intensifying efforts to reach a national reconciliation, and working towards a comprehensive political resolution that guarantees a peaceful transition of power in Afghanistan, and addresses the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in light of current circumstances.
It is worth noting that the State of Qatar allocated last month $100 million as a contribution to the UN World Food Programme to support food security and prevent famine in Yemen, and to assist in the UN's aid and humanitarian programmes to curb the deterioration of the humanitarian tragedy there.
