GCC Set to Finalize Unified Traffic Violation System

Doha, Qatar: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is close to completing its unified traffic violation system, with progress reported at 95%, according to GCC Secretary General HE Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi.

In an interview with the Kuwaiti daily Al Qabas, Albudaiwi explained that once operational, the system will allow the instant exchange of traffic violation data among member states. He added that additional priority services are also being developed to better serve both citizens and residents across the GCC.

The Secretary General highlighted that the initiative will strengthen compliance with traffic regulations and help curb repeated offenses across borders. Once launched, violations recorded in any GCC country will be automatically enforced in the driver’s home country.

Albudaiwi also addressed other regional projects, most notably the GCC railway network, which is targeted for completion by 2030. He described the project as a major opportunity for investment and industrial growth, particularly in areas linked to construction, operations, and maintenance.

The railway, spanning 2,177 kilometers, will link all six GCC countries. It is designed to run from Kuwait through Saudi Arabia’s Dammam to Bahrain’s capital, Manama. Another line will connect Dammam to Doha via the Salwa border, linking Qatar to Bahrain, while a separate route will extend from Saudi Arabia to the UAE through Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, before reaching Oman’s capital, Muscat, via Sohar.
