The General Secretariat of the Shura Council met today with a number of the participants in the 22nd qualifying training program for legal professionals for the year 2025 at the Ministry of Justice's Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, with the aim of learning about the nature of the council's work and its competencies specified by the constitution, its internal regulations, and the legislative procedures that take place in it.

During the visit, which came within the framework of activating community partnership and communicating with various sectors of society, the participants listened to a briefing, delivered by Director of Sessions and Committees Affairs Department Ahmed Sultan Al Ghanim and Director of the Legislative Affairs Department at the General Secretariat Mohammad Ibrahim Al Sheikh, about the Shura Council's journey spanning more than half a century, and its contribution to achieving national development goals, in addition to the legislative and oversight powers that it exercises in accordance with the state's constitution and its internal regulations.

Participants learned about the organizational structure of the council, which consists of four main bodies, namely: the council's presidency, the council's office, the council's committees and the council's general secretariat, as well as the powers specified for them in the constitution and the internal regulations.

They were also briefed on the work of the Shura Council's six permanent committees, namely: the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee, Internal and External Affairs Committee, Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, Health, General Services and the Environment Committee, Education, Culture, Sport and Information Committee and Social Affairs, Labour and Housing Committee, considering that they represent the backbone of the council's work, as they undertake tasks including studying, expressing perspectives, and preparing reports on various topics assigned to them.

During the visit, the participants also toured the Shura Council exhibition, which displays a collection of records, speeches and collectibles that show the history of the council since its establishment in 1972.
