Google Doodle Showcases a Unique Animation of Culturally Diverse Women

Upon pressing play on the Doodle, one will be introduced to an animated video

A Google Doodle for International Women's Day 2022 celebrates diverse roles played by women in society.

The 8th of March is recognized worldwide as International Women's Day. To mark the day, Google has created a Doodle that honours women for their global impact, with an animated video featuring women from around the world, highlighting their roles in the society.

What is unique about the animation is that it accurately represents diverse women from many cultures. Women are shown doing different things, such as a mother working on her laptop and caring for her child, a woman taking care of plants, a woman performing surgery in a hospital, and many more careers spanning many industries. 

To honour International Women's Day, Doodle Art Director Thoka Maer illustrated this year's Doodle, which was intended to show that every little thing counts, including waking up each morning, doing the dishes, and caring for children.

According to Maer, "The last couple of years have been hard for everyone, but especially women. As a society, we usually celebrate women and their incredible accomplishments, and inspire young girls to dream big. 

Maer, also claimed that her experience during the pandemic was one of the inspirations for the latest Google Doodle, saying:"I want all women to be able to truly choose the lives they want to live and receive all the respect they deserve".

This year's UN theme for International Women's Day is 'Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow', which celebrates the accomplishments of women and girls in various cultural, political, socioeconomic scenarios and more.
