HH the Amir Approves Official Holiday Schedule for Qatar
Doha, Qatar – His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has officially approved the Cabinet's decision regarding the country’s annual public holidays. The decision, published in the Official Gazette, outlines the designated holidays for ministries, government entities, and public institutions across Qatar.
According to the announcement, the Eid al-Fitr holiday will begin on the 28th day of Ramadan and continue through to the end of the 4th day of Shawwal. For Eid al-Adha, the official break will run from the 9th day to the end of the 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.
In addition to the two major religious holidays, Qatar will also observe a national holiday on December 18, commemorating Qatar National Day.
The decision further clarifies that if a single working day falls between two official holidays, it will be considered a holiday as well. Additionally, if a weekend coincides with the official holidays, those days will also be included in the extended holiday period.
This move aims to streamline public holiday scheduling and enhance clarity for all government departments and institutions.
