A delegation from the Italian Parliament, currently visiting the country, praised the positive changes and reforms made by the State of Qatar in the field of labor and workers' rights, praising the legislation and laws enacted by the Qatari government with the aim of preserving workers' rights, improving and upgrading their living conditions.

The Italian parliamentary delegation confirmed, during a press conference held today to talk about the results of its visit to Doha, that they had held several fruitful meetings with a number of prominent officials in the country, noting that this visit contributed to strengthening friendship and constructive cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Italian Republic.

In his speech at the press conference HE Sergio Romagnoli, a member of the Senate and Chairman of the Labor Committee at the Italian Parliament, said that the delegation was briefed during the visit on many positive things and developments taking place in the State of Qatar, expressing his aspiration to devote the agreements signed between the two countries for strengthening joint cooperation.

Romagnoli added that Doha and the remaining cities visited by the delegation are an "open work site", praising the positive development witnessed in the country. He pointed out that he met today with HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, describing the meeting as very fruitful and praising the positive developments taking place in the field of labor and workers' rights.

Romagnoli stressed that the visit in general was very fruitful, and that the Italian delegation saw a lot of developments, and he got acquainted with many wonderful and attractive works taking place in the State of Qatar, noting that the delegation also visited the Afghan refugee center, describing it as a properly equipped place.

For his part, HE Luciano Cantone, a member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Transport Committee of the Italian Parliament, thanked the State of Qatar and thanked in particular the National Human Rights Committee for enabling the delegation to see firsthand things there.

He said that during his visit, the delegation held many constructive meetings, and was briefed on the legislation and laws that have been enacted in order to preserve workers' rights, stressing that it is a distinctive matter and confirms that Qatar is on the right and good path.

Cantone added that Qatar's hosting of the 2022 World Cup enabled the country to change and develop many things, especially with regard to infrastructure, explaining that there is a lot of cooperation between Qatar and Italy, and wishing that peace and stability would prevail in both countries and their peoples enjoy them.

For his part, HE Gianluca Ferrara, Senator and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament, praised the great hospitality and welcome he witnessed during his first visit to the State of Qatar, as well as the wonderful customs and traditions that he saw.

Ferrara said that the delegation met with HE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, and that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the Ukrainian crisis. He added, "I want to refer here to the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine. We condemn this occupation and any other occupation."

Ferrara expressed his happiness that the State of Qatar is one of the contributors, and indeed one of the best contributors, who plays a distinguished role in terms of humanitarian aid.

For his part, HE Sergio Vaccaro, Senator and Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Italian Parliament, stressed that this visit will be a nucleus for strengthening cooperation between Qatar and Italy, noting that during the visit many important topics such as trade exchange between the two countries were discussed.

Vaccaro concluded by saying that they had been eagerly waiting to see what was happening in the State of Qatar, and the changes that were taking place regarding workers' rights, stressing that that there are many positive things and reforms that have been carried out in the interest of workers' rights.
