Katara Launches World Space Week 2025 with Wide Participation from Experts

Doha, October 04 (QNA) - The World Space Week 2025 kicked off Saturday at the Cultural Village - Katara with the participation of several experts and professionals, along with a wide attendance from interested segments and students from various age groups.

Running throughout four days, Katara organizes this event as part of its commitment to propagating scientific and astronomical culture and promoting awareness of space and its sciences through activities that combine knowledge with entertainment, in pursuit of nurturing public scientific thought, especially among young people, impelling them to broadly explore and innovate.

The program showcases a series of workshops, exhibitions, and lectures, with the first day featuring the screening of a short film, as well as a lecture on the phases of the moon presented by astronomy expert Dr. Basheer Marzouk, alongside a children's workshop on moon thunder.

The second day ought to feature a lecture on the fundamentals of astronomical photography delivered by Rabeea Al Kuwari, followed by a screening of the photographer's journey.

On the third day, Dr. Jorg Matthias Determann, from Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), will present a lecture on space for all in English, followed by the screening of a 3D film titled Polaris, along with a children's storytelling session entitled Khalifa and Amal on a Journey to Space.

On the fourth day, the week winds up with an event exclusively on environment and space, interspersed with a lecture on the significance of environment conservation and its role in living in space, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

In addition, the film Stars-Losing the Dark will be screened, alongside a children's workshop on planting a seed, followed by the concluding activity, a message to space.
