Pigeon Towers Renovation
Katara announced today that one of Qatar's popular landmarks, Pigeon Towers, inside the Cultural Village will be demolished on Wednesday, February 16.
The Pigeon Towers is very popular among visitors and is one of the most photographed structures in Qatar. These will be reconstructed as per new requirements.
Dr Khalid Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village, tweeted on his official handle: "The Pigeon Towers will be demolished at dawn on Wednesday, February 16, to renovate as per higher engineering standards."
There are three pigeon towers on the western side of Katara, next to the mosque, in addition to two towers on the eastern side next to the sea.
It is not mentioned if all the towers will be renovated or only some of them.
Next to the mosque, the pigeon towers stand stall – oblong structures with holes and perches for pigeons.
