Katara Cultural Village
Katara Cultural Village will host Sunday in Building 19 a gallery under the title of "Collectibles and Memories" for valued household artefacts that date back to Qatari ancestors.
The variety of collectibles were collected by Khalid Gamal Al Ajmi, a famous Qatari traveler and fan of popular markets.
Speaking to QNA, Al Ajmi said the exhibition will show a large variety of valued collectibles including glassware, pottery, radios and recorders, CD players and historic safe deposit boxes among other valuables that were used in the past in Qatari homes.
The main objective of the gallery is to preserve the Qatari heritage, enlighten the youths, and help people who were contemporary to these items to reminisce about their past, he said, hailing the collectibles as a cultural stock.
Al Ajmi explained he was crazy about collecting antiques since 2008 when he bought an ancient fan from an antiques market in Thailand, adding he managed to set up two private museums comprising more than 1500 original artefacts.
