The Old Doha Port welcomed the cruise ship Norwegian Sky today, April 12, 2025, marking its maiden voyage to Qatar. Operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, which is headquartered in Miami, Florida, the ship arrived at the port terminal carrying 1,800 passengers and 867 crew members. The arrival is seen as a boost to Qatar’s growing cruise tourism industry, highlighting the country’s appeal as a new and exciting destination for international cruise travelers.

According to Mwani Qatar, the vessel sails under the Bahamas flag and has the capacity to carry up to 1,944 passengers and 899 crew members. Entering service in 1999, the Norwegian Sky measures 258 meters in length and 37 meters in width. With 12 decks, the ship offers a range of amenities and onboard entertainment options, delivering a vibrant cruise experience. The visit of the Norwegian Sky is part of Qatar’s broader efforts to position itself as a key player in regional and global tourism.
