The one-eyed baby allegedly inside a Yemeni hospital.
‘This is a very rare case that was known in Greek mythology’
A baby boy was born in Yemen with one eye in a very rare world case, media reported.
The baby had also one eye socket and a single optical nerve, Yemeni journalist Karim Zarai, who posted the child’s photos, said.
The birth took place at a hospital last Wednesday in Al Bayda governorate in central Yemen, according to him. “This is a very rare case that was known in Greek mythology,” Zarai was quoted as saying.
The baby died seven hours later after his birth, local sources said. There was no immediate comment from health authorities in war-devastated Yemen.
The world saw just six such cases in about five centuries, media reports said.
