Poetry Evenings, Traditional Art, Crafts Events at Beit Al-Khater
Activities of D'reesha Performing Arts Festival, organized by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), in conjunction with the country's hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, continue at the Oxygen Park in Education City.
Within the festival, Al Khater House is venue to a number of heritage and cultural events and activities, like poetry evenings, teaching traditional Qatari sword performance (Ardha) to children, traditional crafts, folk games, fine art, and film screenings.
The festival management chose to hold these events in Al Khater House, because of its cultural and heritage symbolism.
The officer in charge of the D'reesha Festival's activities at Al Khater House Hind Mohammed Al Thawadi, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the poetry evenings that are held as part of the Al Khater House activities, are organized by the Qatar Center for Poetry "Diwan Al Arab" with the participation of poets from Palestine, in addition to an event for plastic art, featuring Palestinian graffiti artist Bilal Khaled participates, who paints graffiti, to deliver Palestinian refugees' messages to the world.
She pointed out that the folklore crafts event, which is being held in cooperation with the " Al Watan" program of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, features families displaying traditional weaving "Sadu" products, traditional foods, and henna drawing.
Hind Al Thawadi added that the activities of Al Khater House, also includes Doha Film InstituteĀ participation where it daily screens a number of Qatar-made films, as well as oud performances and different talent shows.
She added that the program also features a number of Qatari folklore games, and performances in addition to Al Shaqab Arabian horse show.
