QCB Eidiya ATM
The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has officially suspended the 10 Eidiya ATMs that were introduced in the second week of March in celebration of Eid Al Fitr. The initiative, which aimed to revive and support the traditional practice of giving Eidi—monetary gifts exchanged during Eid—saw a remarkable response from the public.
In a statement released on its official social media platforms, QCB announced that total withdrawals from the Eidiya ATMs surpassed QR182 million. The machines, strategically located at 10 different spots across the country, were set up to offer denominations of QR5, QR10, QR50, and QR100, catering to the community’s festive needs.
The central bank noted a record turnout at the machines during the Eid celebrations, reflecting the initiative's popularity and cultural significance. Designed to preserve Qatari heritage and make Eidi more accessible, the ATMs served thousands of families seeking to uphold this cherished tradition.
While the service has now been suspended, its success may pave the way for similar cultural initiatives in the future.
