Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned Al Wakrah as the champions of Qatar Cup 2024
HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned Al Wakrah as the champions of Qatar Cup 2024 after defeating Al Rayyan 1-0 in their final match at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Saturday.
Al Wakrah managed to win the first title in their history in the tournament that began in the 1994-1995 season under the name of the Heir Apparent Cup. As of the 2013-2014 season, it was renamed as Qatar Cup.
Al Wakrah's sole goal in the match was scored by player Nasser Al Yazidi in the 80th minute.
Al Wakrah qualified for the tournament's final for the first time after they beat Al Sadd 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at full time.
