QRHC Chairperson: Sports Day Contributes to Consolidating Concept of Sports for All

Chairperson of Qatar Rugby and Hockey Committee, Yousef Jaham Al Kuwari said that the National Sports Day has an effective role in consolidating the concept of "sports for all" and enhancing its benefits for individuals and society as whole.

Speaking to QNA, Al Kuwari said that allocating a national day for sports is a good initiative to establish the idea of ??sports for all, indicating that the Sports Day is an important opportunity to learn about the sports activities available in Qatar. The initiative came pursuant to Amiri Decision No. 80 of 2011, which stipulated that the second Tuesday of February every year shall be a national sports day, and to be considered an official holiday in the country.

QRHS Chairperson also pointed out that the National Sports Day witnesses great community participation, as many sports events and activities are organized in sports facilities and establishments throughout the country.

This wide participation reflects the growing awareness of the importance of sports as an essential part of daily life, and its role in strengthening social ties and building an integrated society, he added.

Al Kuwari underscored that the Sports Day is not a mere holiday, but a day to promote health and social values, and an opportunity for all members of society to participate in sports activities, reflecting Qatar's commitment to establishing the concept of sports as a way of life.

He also stressed that the Sports Day in Qatar is a distinct national occasion that highlights the state's efforts to promote sports culture, and emphasizes the importance of sports as an effective tool for achieving comprehensive community development.

Regarding the activities of the QRHC on the Sports Day, Al Kuwari said that the committee has many activities in different locations, as rugby events will be held at Al Ersal Stadium in Onaiza, while hockey events will be held at Qatar Foundation, the National Museum Park, Oxygen Park and the Old Port Park, and will be in the form of activities to introduce rugby and hockey.

Concluding his remarks to QNA, Al Kuwari invited fans to join the activities of the Qatar Rugby and Hockey Committee on the Sports Day.
