President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) Dr. Mishaal Ibrahim Al Nasr said that the National Sports Day has become a milestone for the State of Qatar, which was the first to adopt the idea of allocating a national day for sports, pursuant to the Amiri Decision No. 80 of 2011, which stipulated that Tuesday of the second week of February of each year should be the National Sports Day, and to considered an official holiday in the country.

He noted that by taking this innovative step, Qatar has impressed the world and demonstrated to everyone why it is deserving of the title Sports Capital of the World.

Speaking to QNA), Al Nasr stated that the celebration of the Sports Day is an important opportunity to emphasize the importance of practicing sports permanently and regularly, as it is a national occasion that promotes the culture of practicing sports among all segments of society.

He pointed out that the National Sports Day is an ideal opportunity to encourage individuals to adopt a healthy lifestyle, promote sports spirit, and raise awareness of the importance of physical activity in improving the quality of life.

He also praised the role of the State of Qatar in supporting sports and providing the necessary infrastructure to practice it safely and effectively.

The Sports Day is not just an annual event, it is a powerful reminder of the importance of sport in building a strong and cohesive society, he added expressing pride in Qatar's sporting achievements at the local and international level.

Al Nasr explained that the interest of the State of Qatar in sports did not come out of the blue, but out of its full awareness and awareness of its great role in building the human being as one of the most important elements in the processes of development, which participates strongly and effectively in the process of building the nation, especially that sport is one of the most important pillars in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

For his part, QSAA Secretary General Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti underscored the great importance of the Sports Day in the State of Qatar for the individual and society.

He told QNA that Qatar is one of the few countries in the world that has dedicated a national sports day, where schools, offices and shops are closed all day to provide everyone with the opportunity to participate in physical activities and follow a healthy lifestyle.

He highlighted that sport is one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, indicating that hosting major sporting events and providing advanced sports infrastructure reflects the State's commitment to achieving sports excellence at the international level.

He expressed that the Sports Day is a special opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of physical activity as an essential part of everyday life, considering that sport is not just a means of entertainment or competition, it is an effective tool to strengthen physical and psychological health, and improve the quality of life in general.

He continued that sport plays a pivotal role in building societies, as it promotes the values of cooperation, discipline and sportsmanship among individuals.

He stated that the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association is working tirelessly to encourage all age groups to participate in sports activities, including shooting, which is one of the sports that requires high concentration and accuracy, which contributes to the development of mental and physical skills.

With regard to the activities of the QSAA on the Sports Day, the QSAA Secretary General explained that the QSAA will participate in many events in the Oxygen Park, in the activities of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) in Lusail Boulevard, in Aspire Park, and will also participate in the activities of ministries in various places in the country, and will also hold various sports events in Lusail Shooting Range, and for the first time there will be cooperation with the Orphans Care Center (Dreama), where the QSAA will organize a special championship for them in archery, running, and cycling competitions.

Concluding his remarks, Al Sulaiti called on community members to use the National Sports Day as a start to adopt a more active and healthy lifestyle.
