The Qatari national football team is ranked 58th in the world and sixth in the Arab world and Asia in June’s monthly FIFA world ranking.

Qatar, currently participating in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup hosted by the United States and Canada, advanced 3 places with a score of 1393.52 points after it ranked 61st in the world in April’s ranking.

The Qatari team’s best ranking was in August 2021 when it came 42nd in the world after reaching the semi-finals of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, when it advanced 16 ranks, marking it the best ranking for the Qatari team since the establishment of the FIFA ranking in 1991.

Meanwhile, world champions Argentina remained at the top, while Germany dropped one position to 15th in the rankings.

Argentina lead an unchanged top three, followed by 2022 World Cup runners-up France and Brazil. England moved up one position to fourth ahead of Belgium, Croatia and the Netherlands.

Italy, Portugal and Spain completed the top 10.

Germany are still far from the top 10 and dropped one position to 15th following disappointing performances in the final international matches of the season. They were held to a draw with Ukraine and went on to lose to Poland and Colombia.

The biggest climb of all has come outside the top 100, courtesy of Kazakhstan, who moved up eight positions to 104th.

India climb to 100th spot

The Indian senior men’s football team has climbed to the 100th spot with 1204.90 points.

India recently won their second Intercontinental Cup title, defeating Lebanon by 2-0 in the title clash on June 18 in Bhubaneswar. India will square off against Lebanon in the semi-final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship on July 1 in Bengaluru.

India has previously won this competition eight times in 1993, 1997, 1999, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2021.
