Qatar Airways, the world's leading airline in offering Starlink’s high-speed internet, has reached a major milestone by equipping its 30th Boeing 777 with Starlink, covering over 50% of its 777 fleet. This achievement comes just four months after launching the world’s first Boeing 777 Starlink-enabled flight and two months after exceeding its 2024 target of 12 installations, reaching 15 aircraft with advanced connectivity.
Demonstrating unmatched speed in implementation, Qatar Airways has significantly reduced installation time per aircraft—from three days to just 9.5 hours. This accelerated process ensures seamless integration without disrupting operations, as installations are completed within a 12-hour overnight window.
Named Skytrax’s World’s Best Airline in 2024, Qatar Airways initially planned to roll out Starlink across its entire Boeing 777 fleet within two years. However, thanks to process optimization, the airline is now on track to complete the installation by Q2 2025, offering passengers uninterrupted, free high-speed connectivity for streaming, gaming, and working at 35,000 feet.
Speaking at Web Summit Qatar 2025, Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer emphasized the airline’s commitment to redefining in-flight connectivity:
"We are delivering on our promise to offer passengers the best in-flight internet at an exceptional pace. In just four months, we have installed Starlink on 30 aircraft—far surpassing our initial targets. This milestone reflects our team’s dedication and efficiency. Starlink Wi-Fi is a game-changer, ensuring our passengers remain seamlessly connected wherever they fly."
By rapidly replacing existing systems with cutting-edge technology while maintaining the highest safety standards, Qatar Airways continues to set new industry benchmarks. With one of the fastest Starlink rollouts, the airline reinforces its position as a leader in in-flight connectivity, keeping passengers connected worldwide.
