Qatar announced the success of its mediation to reunite Ukrainian children with their families

The State of Qatar on Monday announced the success of its mediation to reunite a new batch of Ukrainian children with their families, as part of Doha's ongoing efforts aimed at reuniting families separated by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bin Rashid Al Khater told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Qatari Embassy in Moscow hosted 11 children and their families during the reunification process, and accompanied them to their final destinations to ensure their safety and comfort.

Her Excellency stated that the group includes children with disabilities, who have been provided with special medical care, in coordination with the Ukrainian and Russian sides.

HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the State of Qatar's appreciation to both the Republic of Ukraine and the Russian Federation for their cooperation and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of these children, and providing them with appropriate care during and before this humanitarian operation.

Ukraine and Russia's cooperation with Qatari mediation efforts since their beginning was an important factor in the success of family reunification operations, Her Excellency added.

She indicated that the ongoing mediation efforts of the State of Qatar to reunite Ukrainian children are an extension of its approach to mediation and resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law. Such efforts reflect Qatar's unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles and international solidarity, as well as its actual contributions to building peace and stability at the regional and international levels, she added.

The success of Qatari mediation in various files confirms its reliability to all parties, she stressed.

Her Excellency explained that the State of Qatar attaches special importance to enhancing the protection of children affected by conflicts, noting in this context that Qatar has established partnerships with regional organizations and international partners to end and prevent the grave violations against children in armed conflicts, in addition to launching several initiatives to support international peace and security.

Her Excellency also stressed that the State of Qatar will continue to contribute to this constructive approach to settling the conflicts facing the world through peaceful means.

Concluding her remarks to QNA, HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatars thanks and appreciation to HE Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Russian Federation Maria Lvova Belova, and to HE Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lobinets, for their great efforts during the mediation processes, which was culminated in reuniting families.
