The State of Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, considering it a new episode in the series of horrific occupation crimes against the defenseless Palestinian people, especially women and children.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of the fading chances of peace and the widening of the cycle of violence due to the provocative Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The minister underscored the need for the international community to move urgently to provide the necessary protection for the Palestinian people and to compel Israel to stop its flagrant violations of international law and force it to respect international legitimacy resolutions.

The ministry reiterated Qatar's firm position on the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, including the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
