Qatar Customs intercepts Lyrica pills at Hamad International Airport
Officials at Hamad International Airport prevented an attempt to smuggle narcotic pills into Qatar.
In a video released on Thursday, the customs department revealed that they had confiscated banned Lyrica tablets concealed inside a water heater found in a passenger's luggage.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered a total of 13,579 tablets hidden inside the heater.
The customs authority has consistently issued warnings against attempting to bring illegal items into Qatar. Inspectors receive rigorous training, both theoretical and practical, on the latest technologies and techniques, including reading passengers' body language and staying informed about smugglers' evolving tactics.
