In a major move to protect students' access to education, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the removal of registration restrictions for students in private schools and kindergartens who have outstanding tuition fees.
Starting September 30, 2025, students with unpaid dues will no longer face registration bans in the National Student Information System (NSIS), ensuring they can continue their education without disruption.
The Ministry emphasized that the decision is part of a broader commitment to educational continuity, placing the students' right to learn above financial challenges faced by their families. A circular issued by the Ministry reaffirmed that while education access must be preserved, private institutions still retain the right to recover dues through appropriate legal means.
Key highlights of the decision include:
Immediate removal of NSIS restrictions for students with unpaid fees.
Private schools and kindergartens must explore alternative methods for fee collection and request financial guarantees from parents.
Payment policies should align with the grace period regulations outlined in Ministerial Decision No. 9 of 1996, which allows a one-month window for fee settlements.
The Ministry has urged all private educational institutions to update their administrative and payment protocols ahead of the 2025/2026 academic year to reflect the new policy.
This balanced approach ensures that no child’s education is interrupted due to financial hardship, while still supporting the operational needs of private schools across Qatar.
