Handball World Championship
Qatar handball team lost to Hungary 23-29 on Saturday in their third match in the main round of the ongoing 29th IHF Men's World Championship in Croatia, Norway, and Denmark, until February 2. This marked Qatar's third loss in the main round, after losses to North Macedonia 34-39 and the Netherlands 37-38.
Qatar qualified for the main round after finishing third in Group C in the preliminary round, where they secured a 25-22 win against Kuwait, alongside losses to France with a score of 19-37 and Austria with a score of 26-28.
This marks Qatar's 10th participation in the World Championship, following previous appearances in Portugal 2003, Tunisia 2005, Germany 2007, Spain 2013, Qatar 2015, France 2017, Germany and Denmark 2019, Egypt 2021, and Poland and Sweden 2023, with Qatar's best performance being a runner-up finish in 2015.
