Sheikha Asma at the Summit of Nanga Parbat, marking her ninth 8,000- meter peak
Qatari mountaineering legend Sheikha Asma bint Thani Al-Thani has continued her record-breaking journey by successfully summiting Nanga Parbat in Pakistan, the ninth-highest mountain in the world at 8,126 meters. With this achievement, Sheikha Asma has now climbed 9 of the world’s 14 peaks that rise above 8,000 meters, adding another remarkable feat to her growing list of accomplishments.
Currently in Pakistan, Sheikha Asma is continuing her expedition with the goal of summiting Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Broad Peak. If successful, she will have only Shishapangma and Cho Oyu remaining to become the first woman in history to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks and complete the Explorers Grand Slam, an unprecedented milestone in the world of mountaineering.
Sheikha Asma’s expeditions go beyond climbing mountains; they serve as a platform to challenge perceptions and inspire change. Through her journeys, she aims to motivate women and youth in the region to break barriers and pursue their dreams.
