Qatar Recorded 2434 Newborns in June
Qatar welcomed approximately 316,000 inbound visitors in June, marking a 0.9 percent increase from May 2024 and a 12.2 percent rise from June 2023.
The majority of these visitors came from GCC countries, accounting for 47 percent. Air travel was the most common mode of arrival, representing 55 percent of the total visitor count.
The National Planning Council published the 126th edition of the Qatar Monthly Statistics bulletin, which highlighted key statistical changes in the country for June 2024, along with insights from the 2020 Census.
Significant changes included an 11.5 percent and 11.2 percent monthly drop in the total number and value of sold properties, respectively, compared to May 2024. Additionally, there was a 30.6 percent decline in the value of traded stocks, a 14 percent decrease in traffic accidents, and a 17.6 percent reduction in traffic accident fatalities on a monthly basis.
Demographic data revealed a population increase from 2.656 million in June 2023 to 2.858 million in June 2024, reflecting a 7.6 percent annual growth, though there was a 7.2 percent decrease compared to May 2024.
In terms of vital statistics, 2,434 live births were registered in June 2024, with a 0.2 percent increase in Qatari live births from the previous month. Meanwhile, 188 deaths were recorded, showing a 17.9 percent decrease from May 2024.
June 2024 also saw a 14 percent and 32.3 percent monthly decrease in marriage contracts and divorce certificates, respectively, with 349 marriages and 126 divorces recorded.
Social security payments amounted to QR77 million in June 2024, with 14,362 beneficiaries, reflecting a 0.5 percent decrease in value and a 0.1 percent decrease in the number of beneficiaries compared to the previous month. In the banking sector, the total Broad Money Supply (M2) reached about QR732 billion in June 2024, representing a 4.7 percent annual increase compared to June 2023. Cash equivalents, including commercial bank deposits, totaled QR1,032 billion, up 8 percent from June 2023, when deposits were around QR955 billion.
As for building permits, 543 were issued in June 2024, marking a 30.6 percent monthly and 15.3 percent annual decrease. The number of newly registered vehicles in June 2024 was 6,333, showing a 28.9 percent monthly decrease and a 3.9 percent annual decrease. There were 647 traffic accidents recorded in June 2024, excluding non-injury accidents, showing a 14 percent monthly decrease but a 4.5 percent annual increase.
