The Qatari reserve basketball team achieved an important victory over its Emirati counterpart with a score of 78-71 on Wednesday, during the fourth round of the 26th edition of the Arab Basketball Championship, currently held at Khalifa Sports City Hall in Bahrain, and continuing until Aug. 2.
The Qatari team managed to secure the win after an outstanding performance. The first quarter witnessed an exciting tie (15-15), before Qatar imposed its control in the second quarter with a score of (27-19), giving them the advantage at the start of the second half.
In the third quarter, the Qatari team's performance declined, which the Emirati team capitalized on to reduce the gap and win the quarter (21-17), before Qatar regrouped and secured the fourth quarter with a score of (19-16).
With this victory, Qatar’s reserve team raised its tally to 5 points in the championship standings.
Qatar's player Dejan Janjic (star of the match) shone brightly, scoring 33 points and topping the list of best scorers in the match, while the UAE’s DeMarco Dickerson excelled with 28 points, emerging as his team’s standout player.
Qatar will face the Kuwaiti team next Friday before concluding its participation with a match against Tunisia next Saturday.
