Qatari shooters won four medals Tuesday including two gold and two silver, in the trap competition at the Arab Shooting Championship currently being held in Cairo. The championship is organized by the Egyptian Shooting Federation under the supervision of the Arab Shooting Federation. The championship is being attended by 300 male and female shooters from 19 Arab countries: Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, the UAE, Morocco, Sudan, Lebanon, Mauritania, and host country Egypt. The Arab Shooting Championship, which concludes tomorrow, includes rifle, air pistol, and shotgun (skeet and trap) competitions. Qatar's four medals Tuesday were as follows: The Qatari women's team won the gold medal in the team trap competition, with shooters Khulood Al Khalaf, Maitha Al Binali, and Amna Al Abdullah. Shooter Ali Al Mannai also won the gold medal in the junior individual trap competition. The Qatari men's team won the silver medal in the team trap competition, with shooters Saeed Abu Shareb, Rashid Hamad Al Athba, and Mohammed Al Rumaihi. Shooter Khulood Al Khalaf won the silver medal in the women's individual trap competition. With this result, Qatar's shooters brought their total medal tally in the tournament to nine: three gold, three silver, and three bronze. The tournament will conclude tomorrow, Wednsday with the mixed trap competition. The crowning ceremony for Qatar's shooters at today's Arab Championship was attended by HE Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari. The Qatari delegation to the Arab Shooting Championship is headed by Nawal Al Sulaiti, administrator of the women's team at the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation. The delegation also includes administrators Masoud Ali Al Athba, administrator of the men's shotgun team; Sayed Ismail, administrator of the juniors; Jassim Saad, manager of the pistol and rifle team; Abdulaziz Al Ajji, administrator of the pistol and rifle; and Aisha Muwaineh, administrator of the pistol and rifle. The championship is an important milestone on the Arab championship agenda, as it represents an opportunity to enhance Arab competition and exchange technical expertise, in addition to serving as a platform for young and professional shooting talent to meet. Assistant Secretary of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation Ahmed Yahya Al Nuaimi, lauded the impressive results achieved by the Qatari shooting team during its participation in the Arab Shooting Championship, currently being held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the wide participation of stars from various Arab countries. Al Nuaimi told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that "Qatar's shooters delivered an exceptional performance in the championships, winning four medals Tuesday, including two gold and two silver. This achievement reflects the significant development of shooting in Qatar." He added, "We are pleased that young shooter Ali Al Mannai won first place in the Arab world and the gold medal. This is thanks to the development programs implemented by the Federation over the past year, which contributed to honing his talent and raising his competitive level." Al-Nuaimi also discussed the performance of distinguished shooter Kholoud Al-Khalaf, saying, "Kholoud is one of the Federation's most prominent champions. She demonstrated remarkable excellence in the championship, achieving outstanding results that add to her record of achievements. This confirms our ongoing efforts to support promising talents and empower them to raise the flag of Qatar in international forums." At the end of his statement, the Assistant Secretary General of the Federation expressed his optimism about the future of Qatari shooting, noting that "these achievements are just the beginning of a journey filled with further accomplishments, especially with the unlimited support of the Qatar Olympic Committee, headed by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani." He expressed his hope that Qatari shooters would continue to win titles in upcoming continental and international competitions.
