Qatar Braces for Dusty Weekend with Rising Temperatures and Strong Winds
The Qatar Meteorology Department has issued a warning for dusty conditions expected to develop over the weekend due to dust waves moving in from the northern Arabian Peninsula.
On Thursday, May 15, the weather will remain mostly clear with temperatures ranging between 29°C and 38°C, and no significant dust activity is forecasted.
However, by Friday, May 16, dust is expected to begin affecting parts of the country, with conditions worsening into Saturday, May 17. Temperatures on Saturday are forecasted to climb to 38°C–41°C, accompanied by strong northwesterly and northeasterly winds. Sea waves may rise to 12 feet, and dust concentrations across the region could peak at 4000–8000 mg/m², although Qatar itself is likely to experience lighter levels between 100–500 mg/m².
Throughout the weekend, hot daytime temperatures, reduced visibility, and moderate to strong winds are expected. The public is advised to limit outdoor activities and take precautions, especially those with respiratory sensitivities.
