Qatari player Abdullah Al Tamimi qualified for the semi-finals of the 5th Qatar Squash Federation Championship in the bronze category, as part of the World Squash Association Tour, which will continue until Sunday.
Al Tamimi, the title holder of the championship, qualified for the semi-finals after achieving his second consecutive victory, at the expense of the British Ben Smith, after imposing control over the course of the match, to decide it in 25 minutes (11-5, 11-7, 11-7).
Al Tamimi set a date in the semi-finals with the Egyptian Ali Abu Al-Enein, who defeated his compatriot Mohamed Abu Al-Ghar with three sets to one.
Al Tamimi had opened his journey in the championship with an easy victory over the Welshman Eimear Evans with three sets to none in the round of 16.
In turn, the Egyptian Tarek Momen, ranked first in the tournament and ninth in the world, qualified for the semi-finals by defeating the Japanese Renyosuke Tsuki (11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 11-2), to set a date in the semi-finals with the Colombian Miguel Rodriguez, ranked third in the tournament.
The total prize money for this tournament, in which 24 players participate and which is based on the knockout system, is $60,500.
The Qatari player Abdullah Al-Tamimi had won the title of the fourth Qatar Squash Federation Championship in the bronze category 2023 by defeating his Egyptian counterpart Tarek Momen in the final match.
