Over the past ten years, Qatar has witnessed unprecedented growth and development under the visionary leadership of King Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. As the eighth Amir of Qatar, King Sheikh Tamim has steered the nation towards remarkable progress, transforming it into a dynamic global player on various fronts.

3. Kafala System changes and Labour Law Reforms:

Sheikh Tamim has implemented significant changes to the Kafala System, which governs the employment of migrant workers in the country - acknowledging key issues and challenges. With a commitment to reform the system he has actively pursued measures to improve the rights and living conditions of migrant workers in Qatar. Qatar has collaborated with entities like the International Labour Organization, passing new Labour Laws and ensuring adherence to international standards.

Under Sheikh Tamim's leadership, Qatar has implemented significant labor law reforms aimed at protecting the rights of migrant workers. These reforms include the removal of the requirement for exit permits for a major population of the workforce coupled with the ending of the requirement for migrant workers to obtain their employer’s permission to change jobs, effectively dismantling the kafala sponsorship system. This change has granted workers greater freedom and autonomy over their employment and marked the beginning of a new era for the Qatari labour market. 

Furthermore, the Amir has implemented various systems in place under Wage Protection, and Administrative Development, working actively towards increased transparency with workers' welfare initiatives.

4. World-Class Infrastructure and Urban Development:

Qatar's infrastructure has undergone a remarkable transformation during Sheikh Tamim's reign. Notably, the nation successfully hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first Arab country to do so. The event showcased Qatar's state-of-the-art stadiums, transportation networks, and sustainable urban planning initiatives. Additionally, the Hamad International Airport, the Qatar Rail network, and the Lusail City development are prime examples of the country's commitment to creating a world-class infrastructure that caters to its growing population and international visitors.

During his reign Qatar became the first nation from the Middle East ever to host and organize the FIFA World Cup, the biggest sports tournament in the world.

During the Covid-19 crisis, Sheikh Tamim took an active effort into safeguarding the health of all residents in the country, chalking up precautionary measures to combat the spread of the virus and ordering a set of decisions and measures. As a result the country handled the pandemic in the best way possible, and residents were provided the best of healthcare facilities.
