Qatar attracted visitors from across the region, with travelers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries accounting for 53 percent of all arrivals.

Visitors from GCC countries contributed significantly to strong tourism growth in January. 2024, according to official data from the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).

Qatar aims to reach the goal of six million tourists by 2030 as part of a national strategy to increase the sector's share in GDP from 7% to 12%.

The country received 370,051 visitors from the GCC in January 2024, compared to 141,998 in 2023, an annual increase of 160.6%. In December 2023, the number of visitors to the GCC was 171,035, up 116.4 percent month-on-month.

Passengers from the Persian Gulf region accounted for 53 percent of all arrivals. Other Arab countries accounted for 7 percent, with 51,583 visitors from this region coming to Qatar this year, compared to 9,446 in January last year, a 446.1 percent increase year on year.

The number of visitors measures the number of foreign visitors traveling to Qatar. short term for all purposes. This includes border arrivals for 15 visas, including all types of business and holiday visas, in addition to work visas.
