A delegation from Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) recently visited the United Kingdom (UK) to study best practices and regulatory frameworks in food safety, with a particular focus on organic products. The visit, organized in response to an invitation from the British Embassy in Qatar, aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation in food safety policies and standards.
Led by Wasan Al Baker, Director of the Food Safety Department at MoPH, the delegation engaged in discussions with UK food safety authorities, addressing challenges and opportunities within the organic food sector. The meetings also provided insights into the UK’s food product regulations and inspection processes.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured key facilities to observe British methods in food inspection, entry-point shipment assessments, and laboratory testing protocols. These observations will contribute to Qatar’s efforts to refine its own food safety policies.
This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening Qatar-UK collaboration on food safety, as both nations continue working towards improved regulatory mechanisms to ensure the quality and safety of food products.
