Qatari competitors stand out at the Asia Triathlon Sprint Championships
The Qatari national triathlon team demonstrated their skills at the Asia Triathlon Sprint Championships in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, yesterday. Leading the elite category, Faris Al Mohannadi and Abdullah Al Kuwari spearheaded the team in a challenging race, featuring a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run.
This marked their third competition this year as part of the Qatari Federation's strategic plan to elevate athletes to a high level of competition sanctioned by the International Triathlon Federation.
The Shift Go Racing team left an impression in the Team Relay category, as Tamim Al Kuwari, Mohammed Al Kuwari, and Nayef Al Musallam secured a commendable third place overall, securing the top spot in the team rankings. Contributing to the success, the Q Tri team showcased their versatility by participating in the aquathlon, highlighting their skills in swimming, running, and swimming once again.
During the tournament's sidelines, Dr. Mohammed bin Jaham Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, joined the West Asian Triathlon Federation meeting alongside H.H. Prince Fahad bin Jalawi Al Saud, President of the Asian Triathlon Federation. President Al Kuwari underscored the significance of collaboration between the Qatar Triathlon Federation and the federations of West Asian countries, with a specific focus on the regional championship agenda.
A team of experts from the Qatar Triathlon Federation, comprising Firas Al Hamoud (Technical Secretary of the Federation and Director of Development at the Asian Triathlon Federation), along with three referees—Ibrahim Mohammed, John Bonalos, and Alexandro Abetri—played a proactive role in organizing the tournament, guaranteeing its smooth execution.
