The Qatari mens tennis team qualified for the semi-finals of the Asia-Oceania Group IV Davis Cup Championship, currently being held in Cambodia, after defeating the Kyrgyz team 2-1 during the match that brought them together on Friday.

The Qatari team were able to achieve victory in the singles and doubles aggregate, as Rashid Nawaf won the first singles match against Kyrgyzstan player Mirdzhaliyev with a score of two sets to one, 6-1, 6-7, and 6-0.

In turn, Mubarak Shanan was able to overcome the player Elgiz Kamchibekov in the second singles match by 7-6 and 6-0, while the duo, Ghanem Al-Sulaiti and Mishary Nawaf, faltered in the doubles match, after losing to the Kyrgyz team consisting of Kirill Kestanov and Ilgiz Kamchibekov , 3-6 and 2-6, but in the overall match, the Qatari team won and qualified for the semi-finals with 2-1.
According to the tournament system, each team are required to play two singles matches and one doubles match.

The Qatari team achieved full marks in the group stage by winning its opening match against Sri Lanka, the second match against the UAE, and then winning the third match against Kyrgyzstan.

The Qatari team, which lead in the first group, will meet the Cambodian team, which came in second place in the second group, in the semi-finals, while the Kuwaiti team will meet its Sri Lankan counterpart in the second confrontation in the same round.

The national team mission includes players Musa Shanan, Mubarak Shanan, Ghanem Al-Sulaiti, Rashid Nawaf, and Mishari Nawaf, in addition to coach Mounir Al Araj.
