Skyscraper Day Spotlight Qatar’s Tallest Towers 2025

Qatar’s tallest towers do more than define its skyline as they transform the city after dark. Through innovative lighting design, these skyscrapers create a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the nation’s culture and urban identity.

On World Skyscrapers Day, we celebrate not only the soaring heights of Qatar’s architectural achievements, but the way these structures light up the city with purpose, precision, and pride. From the soft glow of heritage-inspired patterns to dynamic displays of color and movement, Qatar transformed the city after dark with innovative lighting that highlights their unique designs and brings the urban landscape to life.

Here’s how some of the most iconic skyscrapers light up Qatar’s nights in the city:

1. Lusail Plaza Towers 3 & 4 - 300.7 m / 986 ft

  • Wireless DMX lighting control: 1,040 custom LED fixtures illuminate four towers (up to 310 meters), creating high-impact facade displays visible far across the city.
  • The lighting design involved several designers, with custom solutions for each tower for maximum visual impact.

2. Aspire Tower (The Torch Doha) - 300 m / 984 ft

  • Color-changing LED system: 3,800 custom, individually addressable LED fittings produce dramatic, programmable lighting effects and even strobe sparkles.
  • The LEDs form a giant display, and the system can be programmed for special events and celebrations, making the tower visible citywide. The building also set a record for the largest 360-degree external LED display.

3. Doha Tower (Burj Qatar) - 238 m / 781 ft

  • Lighting design by Yann Kersalé: With over 3,386 LED lights, it creates dynamic color gradients (white to amber) that produce a radiant glow in silver and gold tones.
  • Lighting is programmable and remotely maintained, which highlights geometric patterns at night, blending traditional Islamic design with modern technology to create a stunning visual effect.

4. Katara Towers - 211 m / 692 ft

  • Crystal Swirl installation: One of the largest custom lighting installations in Qatar, stretching 57 meters, featuring 12,000+ hand-blown components and 4,800 LED modules that illuminate the hotel interiors and facade.
  • Light up the Lusail skyline with a stunning blend of architectural façade lighting, custom crystal installations, and dynamic interior designs
