Take Caution While Driving in Rainy Weather

Director of the Traffic Awareness Department of the General Directorate of Traffic Brigadier Mohammed Radi Al Hajri called for caution when using roads after a period of drought and little rain, as some dust leads to tire slips.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he stressed the need to adhere to the necessary safety guidelines, including leaving a sufficient safety distance while adhering to the lane and not overtaking, reducing speed, being careful when crossing pedestrians in crowded places, making sure that the windshield wipers work and applying the brakes gradually to slow the car, as well as making sure that the headlights and traffic lights are working.

Director of the Traffic Awareness Department confirmed the deployment of additional numbers of patrols at intersections, roads and places of pedestrian flow for more safety for all in light of the rainy weather currently witnessed in the country.

He said that so far, no roads in the country were closed or traffic diversions were created as a result of water gatherings, whether in tunnels or internal streets that are normally used by vehicle drivers, indicating that the operations room is operating normally and all the competent authorities that follow the situation closely participate in it.

Concluding his statement, the Director of the Traffic Awareness Department wished road users to cooperate with the traffic patrols, to ensure the flow of movement and to immediately deal with any emergency on the road.
