The Hunting and Falconry Stamps Exhibition has Begun at Katara
The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has launched the "Hunting and Falconry Stamps" exhibition, aligning with the Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition "Shail 2024," which runs until September 14.Â
The exhibition showcases a vast collection of stamps featuring falcons and hunting themes, including notable items from Qatar dating back to the 1960s, a stamp issued for National Day in 2016, and six postage stamps released in 2022 by the Arab Postal Stamp Museum in collaboration with the Al Gannas Association. These stamps celebrate the most beautiful and rare falcons worldwide, including winners of the Al Mazayen Championship at the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi) in 2021. The exhibition also features unique falcon-themed stamps from various countries across the globe.
Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the exhibition highlights stamps related to hunting and falcons from over 25 countries, including those from the GCC states, other Arab nations, Asia, Europe, and the United States. He noted that the selection of these specialized stamps was timed to coincide with the upcoming Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition, which will commence on September 10 and is the largest exhibition of its kind in the Middle East.
Dr. Al Sulaiti commended the rare stamps on display, emphasizing that they highlight the presence of stamp collectors in Qatar who preserve unique and distinguished stamps. This exhibition allows visitors to the Shail Exhibition to appreciate this art form at the Arab Postal Stamp Museum in Katara.
