The 13th edition of the Katara Traditional Dhow Festival begins today at 3:30 pm on Katara Beach and extends until December 2. The event features a diverse program this year, showcasing participation from 12 countries: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Palestine, Portugal, Iran, Tanzania, and India.
The event will offer a diverse range of artistic and cultural activities alongside traditional maritime competitions at Katara Beach No. 2. These include the traditional rowing contest scheduled for December 1 at 3:30 pm and the traditional sailing competition on December 2.
The festival comprises numerous maritime museums housing rare artifacts, offering visitors a vivid glimpse into the traditional life of earlier generations involved in pearl diving. Additionally, various handicraft shops on Katara Beach will showcase a wide array of crafts, featuring skilled artisans demonstrating their expertise. Moreover, the festival presents workshops and entertainment tailored for children.
