Turkish Airlines to increase its flights to Doha in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2022

For the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Doha, Qatar from November 20–December 18, Turkish Airlines will increase the number of flights to that city. From November 1 to December 31, 2022, Turkish Airlines will increase the number of weekly flights between Doha and Istanbul from 12 to 42.

It will be the first time ever that the Middle East and the Arab world will host the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship.

Commenting on the event, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat said: “The FIFA World Cup is one of the world’s greatest events and as the world looks to the Middle East region, Turkish Airlines increases flights to Doha to accommodate the influx of fans who will be traveling to cheer on the 32 teams competing. “We have recently resumed our world-renowned Stopover and Touristanbul programs, so passengers flying Turkish Airlines can take advantage of the opportunity to explore the world’s connection center, Istanbul, and its unique wonders en route to Doha.”

Passengers have the opportunity to spend valuable time in Istanbul during their connection thanks to Turkish Airlines' Stopover service. With the purchase of a ticket, Turkish Airlines offers a one-night stay in a 4-star hotel for passengers traveling in economy class and a two-night stay in a 5-star hotel for passengers traveling in business class. Additionally, travelers will have the choice to book a room starting at 49 USD at one of the contracted hotels.

In order to see the city's historical and cultural attractions, such as Sultanahmet Mosque, Ayasofya Mosque, and Topkap Palace, in between flights, passengers with layovers of more than 6 to 24 hours in Istanbul can take advantage of Touristanbul, a free city tour offered to Turkish Airlines' guests.

Passengers can explore Turkish Airlines' extensive route network to 340 destinations globally because it is a global airline that flies to more nations than any other airline in the globe. There are currently 17 gateway cities in North America served by Turkish Airlines, including Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Newark, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Mexico City, and Cancun.
