Timmy T Davis
US President Joe Biden has announced his intent to nominate Timmy Davis for the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Qatar.
Timmy Davis, according to a White House statement, is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and most recently served as the Secretary of State's Executive Assistant. Formerly, Davis was the US Consul General for Basra and southern Iraq.
His overseas tours include Guatemala City, Guatemala; Najaf, Iraq; Canberra, Australia; and Bogota, Colombia.Â
While operating in the US, he held a variety of positions including Senior Watch Officer at the State Department Operations Center, Special Assistant to the Secretary of State, Director for Iraq at the National Security Council, and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Special Presidential Envoy to Counter-ISIL.
Additionally, he served as Senior Advisor to the Consuler of the Department, Chief of Staff to the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and Acting Chief of Staff to the Department of State.
Having served about a decade in the Marine Corps, Davis served in the Horn of Africa and Iraq before joining Foreign Service. Davis is fluent in Spanish and Arabic.
