Joe Biden with Qatar Amir
President of the United States of America Joe Biden thanked Qatar for its efforts that led to the exchange of hostages in Gaza.Â
In his statement regarding the humanitarian pause in Gaza, Biden expressed his gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for their "critical partnership in reaching this deal." Â
He further stated that he looks forward "to speaking with each of these leaders and staying in close contact as we work to ensure this deal is carried through in its entirety."Â
"It is important that all aspects of this deal be fully implemented," the US President stated.Â
On the other hand, the US Ambassador to Qatar H E Timmy Davis also commented on the deal. He stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, that "today’s announcement is the result of US and Qatari diplomacy."
"Such an accomplishment would not have been possible without our trusted Qatari partners, to whom I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for their steadfast mediation efforts throughout the crisis," the US ambassador stated.
Qatar announced today, November 22, 2023, that a humanitarian pause has been agreed in Gaza. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the pause will be announced within the next 24 hours and will last for four days, subject to extension.
