HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Commander of Lekhwiya Force, Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz bin Faisal Al-Thani opened Sunday at the Lekhwiya Force headquarters the Unified Medical Center of the Security and Safety Operations Committee of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (SSOC).
Composed of five outpatient clinics and ambulance services to transport critical cases to Hamad General Hospital, the center will provide primary health care to the committee's attributes from government agencies, namely MOI, Ministry of Defense, Lekhwiya Force, as well as to participants in securing the championship from sisterly and friendly countries.
At a press statement on this occasion, His Excellency expressed his thanks for the efforts made by all parties to harness the best medical care for the SSOC affiliates, and the guests from sisterly and friendly countries, stressing the need to double efforts during the tournament to ensure high-quality medical service to all.
His Excellency said that the security work system works as teamwork to secure the championship according to the highest levels of security performance, and in a manner befitting the State of Qatar and its excellence in all fields, most notably in security services.
Commander of Medical Services at the Qatari Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Doctor Asaad Ahmed Khalil highlighted the orchestrated efforts with the MOI and the Lekhwiya Force to offer medical services to make the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 a success as a global event to be held for the first time in the Middle East. He added that the medical center, inaugurated today according to international standards, witnesses the level of advanced medical care in the State of Qatar, wishing everyone success in their tasks.
Head of the SSOC'S Manpower Unit Colonel Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Gayathin said the center was set up to provide medical care for SSOC human cadres and the participating security forces from sisterly and friendly countries, and to organize a medical referral mechanism, especially after the success of the medical clinic experience during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021.
He added that the center would ensure the accurate organization of work in medical care, providing high-quality primary medical care in a safe environment, and the speedy delivery of the decisions of medical affiliates to the manpower unit, as well as coordination with the championship operations command center and the supervisory office of sisterly and friendly countries regarding the medical aspect.
Director of the MOI's Medical Services Department Col. Salem Saeed Al Rashid said that the launch of the center comes within the framework of enhancing partnership between the military authorities, and offering an outstanding medical service to the security forces participating in securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
He added that the Medical Services Department participates in the center with a group of distinguished medical and technical cadres and ambulances, praising the extent of cooperation and coordination between all concerned parties to provide high-level medical performance and to ensure the health and mental readiness of the security forces to carry out their duties in securing the championship at the highest level.
Head of the medical team operating the Unified Medical Center Lieutenant-Colonel Doctor Rami Al Qatami said the center comprises a group of distinguished and highly qualified medical cadres from the medical services of the Ministries of Defense and Interior and Lekhwiya Force, stressing that the center will provide the best service in primary health care, and provide the necessary medicines according to the highest quality standards. He added it put into effect the recognized medical systems, noting that the center will provide medical care in the Lekhwiya main headquarters plus five outpatient clinics in the residences of the sisterly and friendly forces.
In addition to the various medical specialties, Al Qatami said, the center would provide a wide range of other week-long services including pharmacy, radiology and laboratory.
In a related context, Head of Medical Affairs at the center Lt. Col. Dr. Kholoud Al Subaie said that the services that the center will provide include dental, ophthalmology, surgery, orthopedics, nose, ear, and throat clinics, gynecology, urology, and dermatology, adding that the general and emergency medical service will be around the clock throughout the week.
Deputy Head of Administrative Affairs at the center Dr. Ali Al Jarrah said the center, in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation, would provide medicines and all medical supplies to ensure optimal primary health care through the optimal use of available resources, and enhancing the environment of healthcare work, prevention of work-related diseases and injuries, and protection against dangers.
